I’m Scotty Jacobs.

I’m the fourth generation of my family to live in San Francisco. My roots in the City go back to my great grandfather, who immigrated to the United States from Russia with less than $10 to his name. It was in San Francisco that he was able to build a flourishing business in the Tenderloin, and where he was able to make his dreams become a reality. His daughter - my grandmother - was raised in the Sunset, as was my mom, both graduates of Lowell High School.

Although I was raised in Marin, I always knew that I’d make my adult life in San Francisco - largely thanks to my aunt Allison. I joke - my Auntie Alli knew that I was gay before I did. And as a life-long San Franciscan, Auntie Alli made sure that I knew what type of city San Francisco was - and still is: a city where you can be yourself, where you can build the life you’ve always dreamed of, and where you can find your people. She’d invite me to dinner with her gay friends or to go see the Rocky Horror Picture Show with her and her friends, and was subtle yet intentional about signaling the values of San Francisco to a young and impressionable me. So, when I realized that I was, in fact, gay - while I couldn’t envision what my life would look like, I knew it would happen in San Francisco.

I built my career working in the brands you’d find in grocery stores - many of which were started in the greater Bay Area. Most immediately before getting into politics, I was the Director of Brand Management at Kinder’s, one of the fastest-growing companies in my former industry (consumer packaged goods). In my role, I was responsible for the end-to-end business strategy for the sauce businesses (yes, some friends did refer to me as the Sauce Boss). I’m the only candidate in the District 5 race with experience running multi-hundred million dollar lines of business.

I believe San Francisco is at the beginning of a new age of reinvention; our local government needs to play a critical role in this renaissance, and I want to be a champion of all the good that exists here today, and the prosperous future of our shared tomorrow.

As the would-be-youngest member of the Board of Supervisors, I’ll be the voice of modern San Francisco - focused on pragmatic, reasonable, and realistic solutions to our current challenges, and an optimistic, forward-looking steward of our future. I’m a renter, a member of the LGTBQIA+ community, and most of all, a believer that San Francisco’s best days are still ahead. I’ve worked in non-profits and the corporate world, and am excited to devote the next chapter of my life to public service.
